On Saturday, August 9, 2025, BBC held the Women’s Doubles tournament. It was a warm sunny day with a slight breeze and the courts were fast. We had nine teams competing in a double elimination tournament with the top three teams taking home their portion of the cash pool.

 

Teams were a mixture; some league members played with a teammate, others with a league opponent or friend. There was friendly competition and at the same time everybody realized they needed to bring their ‘A game’ to move through the brackets. We witnessed precision rolls and timely spocks throughout the day. 

 

Two teams (Josette Noll & Kristy Spengler, and Deta Pearce & Nan Stout) moved steadily thru the winners bracket to meet each other. Deta & Nan prevailed and awaited their opponent.

 

Meanwhile, Hannah Corey & Jennie Wafer,  who lost their first match, worked their way back to challenge Deta & Nan in the finals.

 

Hannah & Jennie won the first game, giving Deta & Nan their first loss of the day. Hannah & Jennie played another tough game and took first place in the tournament.

 

Thanks to all who participated, and friends & family who came out to support the players and referee the games. Great tournament!
